So there we are

The dust is still settling but it’s pretty likely we’ll be propping up the table come the spring, and we can certainly think ahead to life back in Division 4. Clearly a huge disappointment.

Crunch Time with Colinton

The Fat Lady has sung :(

Rats 9770 Colinton Castle 11910

Colinton Analysis | Colinton-Traveller

Tough match! I like to play “What if?” and when I “correct” all the apparent missed opportunities in the spreadsheet from our side e.g. Don and I playing in the non making 3N rather than the making 4H on 12, everyone bidding and making all available games or slams or whatever, we STILL can only scrape it 2-1. So I think Colinton Castle played a good match overall. Usually the “What if?” countback lets us win!

Time to plan the night out!

Change of Venue for Thursday

I’ve just double checked with the Carlton that we’re all set for Thursday and they don’t have our booking!! Worse, they are full up. Would have checked sooner but we’ve never had such a problem before.

I have managed to book a room at the MELVILLE instead. I have sent an email to Gosford to let them know.

So unless you hear otherwise…..

THURSDAY AT THE MELVILLE to play Gosford.

Obviously should this present an unsurmountable difficulty for Gosford I will update further…

Double Header coming up

On Thursday 6 December (this week) we play Gosford at the MELVILLE (PLEASE NOTE THE CHANGE OF VENUE!!).
Gosford are Longniddry’s top side and we have never played them.

My radar tells me they feature Robin & Jan Sharp, V Macari & A Davies, J & W Phin, P McNeill & K Rose, B Marsh & L Robb, also Ingrid Elgsaas, H Milburn.

Then next Monday, 10 December we wrap up with a visit to LIVINGSTON. This match is at Bankton Mains Bowling Club, Bankton Park East, Livingston, EH54 9LE
Looks to me like you take M8 towards Glasgow, take the main Livingston turnoff and go straight through until the Lizzie Brice Roundabout (well signposted) and turn right.
Then it’s the second turnoff to the left and the bowling club will hopefully be visible to the right as you head down Murieston Way.

Team wise, Livi will be along the lines of G Robertson & J Docherty, R Reid & F Turner, James and Jenny Cooke, Frank and Dorothy Doak, J & J Cooke. Don’t know any of that lot, and we’ve never played them either!

This is our final trip “on the road” for the season. After Christmas we have still to play Marmion B and Falcon (both at the Carlton), Colinton Castle (at the Melville) and Royal Scots A (at their swanky club on the road parallel to Queen Street).
